Unemployment and poverty must break among the youth: Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa says he wants to break the cycle of unemployment and poverty among young people
He's delivered a virtual message as ANC president, as part of the party's Youth Day commemorations.
It's necessary to find meaningful employment and although we have massively increased enrolment in higher education and have broadened access to students who have come from poor and middle-class families.
"We have yet to break the cycle of poverty that is passed from one generation to the next," he said.

He says young people are the agents of change.
He said, young South Africans refuse to accept the constraints that the past has placed on their present, they are determined to forge a better future for themselves and their communities.
The 16th of June is a day to commemorate the 1976 Soweto Uprisings against the oppressive policies of the apartheid regime.
