Life behind bars for Pinetown woman who killed neighbour’s child
Updated | By Xolani Khumalo
A Pinetown woman has received a lengthy jail term for kidnapping and
killing her neighbour's child.
The Durban High Court has sentenced a 40-year-old Zandile Nsele to life imprisonment and a further 25 years for the murder of 10-year-old Siphumelele Mzimba.
The girl went missing for weeks in 2019 in Nazareth.
It's understood that Siphumelele's family received an SMS from Nsele demanding a R20 000 ransom for her safe return. But the child's body was later found dumped in a bush with some of her body parts missing.

"Nsele was sentenced to life for murder, six years imprisonment for kidnapping, nine years imprisonment for the attempted extortion and 10 years imprisonment for contravening the National Health Act,” says the KZN NPA's Natasha Kara.
The sentences will run concurrently.
“The National Prosecuting Authority welcomes the successful prosecution of this matter and we commend the work done by the prosecution and the police,” says Kara.
