Umzinto shooting: It was an accident, says victim's family

The family of a 12-year-old boy - who was shot dead while picking fruit from a tree - say they're battling to come to terms with the tragedy.

A family representative has told Newswatch they harbour no ill feelings towards the person who pulled the trigger.
"We have spoken. We get along with them - it was accident. We are now making arrangements to bury the child," he said.

Umzinto resident, Bongumusa Duma was picking guavas from a tree in the Braemer area on the south coast on Sunday when he was shot allegedly by Petros Myeza.
It's been claimed that the 87-year old mistook the boy for a monkey. Myeza was released on R1000 bail this week.
