Khan's headless body was found by locals in an open field in Umzinto on the south coast, days after he was reported missing by family members.

The intellectually impaired man was believed to have been the victim of a “muti” killing.

Two men – 31-year-old sangoma Elias Sihle Mchunu, and Khan’s alleged best friend – 22-year-old Thando Duma - were arrested for the murder.

The NPA's Natasha Ramkisson-Kara says the two suspects  appeared in the Ramsgate High Court today, after a brief appearance on Monday where one of the accused required legal assistance.

“The matter was then adjourned for today, where the accused did manage to secure a legal representative, and the matter was set down for trial in March [2017]. The charges that they face include two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, two counts of murder, kidnapping, as well as assault GBH.”
