Alleged Umzinto muti killers in court again
Updated | By News24
Two men accused of beheading a woman in an apparent muti killing are appearing in the Umzinto Magistrate's Court today.
Traditional healer Elias Sihle Mchunu and co-accused Eric Ngidi are back in court in connection with the discovery of a woman’s head near Gandhinagar Township in Umzinto, south of Durban.
Mchunu was recently in court for the murder of Nawaaz Khan. He and his co-accused in this case, Thando Duma, abandoned their bail application and will appear again on December 14.
Police detectives found the headless remains of Khan, who had been hacked to death and beheaded in the apparent muti slaying.
Khan and Mchunu were believed to have been friends.
While investigating the death of Khan, police officers arrested Ngidi, who led police to the headless body of the female.
When questioned about the woman's head, Ngidi led police to another location in the vicinity where a plastic shopping bag containing decomposed crushed bones was recovered.
The plastic bag contained what was believed to be the remains of the female victim's head.
