Philani Mavundla has been ousted as the mayor of Umvoti.

The African National Congress and the Inkatha Freedom Party were behind the move to remove the mayor from his position.
Mavundla, who is the president of the Abantu-Batho Congress, has been replaced by the IFP's Gabriel Malembe.
The Department of Cooperate Governance convened a council meeting on Tuesday in response to a joint resolution of no confidence from
The IFP and ANC wanted to remove Mavundla, and Mfundo Masondo as the speaker.
Masondo has been replaced by Ntombi Ngubane from the ANC.
Mavundla labelled the meeting illegal, claiming he obtained a court order to interdict it from happening.
Speaking before the council meeting, Mavundla said he would not step down.
"Yesterday we were in court and we came back with a court order that was interdicting today's meeting. The deployee from Cogta decided he was going to go ahead anyway because he has not been told by Cogta.
"The problem that Cogta is creating is that you are going to have a municipality that will now have two mayors. I can't be removed by an illegal meeting."
