Umsunduzi pleads with residents to stop illegal dumping

Umsunduzi says the cost of illegal dumping is a burden the municipality cannot afford to bear.
The city says it recently had to clear numerous blockages from its sewerage and drainage systems.
uMsunduzi's Ntobeko Mkhize says some residents aren't making use of their disposal sites.

"The infrastructure is aged and is really ailing so for it to also be subjected to illegal dumping and littering, it becomes a problem because then the municipality has to keep on diverting funds that are not even there towards now the maintenance.
"We need assistance. We need collaboration from the citizens to ensure that we do aware with illegal dumps."
