uMsunduzi Municipality aims to clean up its city

The embattled uMsunduzi Municipality which is under administration, has been plagued by numerous problems, including maladministration, fraud, poor service delivery and a chaotic billing system.

Yesterday, Cooperative Governance MEC Sipho Hlomuka went to go have a look at the billing system and promised it would be fixed.
uMsunduzi spokesperson, Thobeka Mafumbatha, says they're rolling out several initiatives to improve services.

"We focusing on enforcing our by-laws. If you walk around in some of our busy streets in Pietermaritzburg, you will see alot of hawkers that are not licensed that have been removed.
There is a massive cleanup campaign. We are replacing street lights that are no longer working. It's a consolidated approach in all our areas of service delivery to ensure people are getting the services they deserve.
