Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Cooperative Governance MEC Sipho Hlomuka's promised uMsunduzi residents, caught up in a billing nightmare, they will rectify the situation.
He made an unannounced visit to the municipality to see for himself how its billing system works. It's been labelled unreliable with residents complaining they're receiving inaccurate readings.
Hlomuka heard from frustrated residents and saw first-hand how the customer centre at the AS Chetty building functions.
His spokesperson Senzelwe Mzila says they've introduced new measures which they hope bring an end to the city's billing crisis.

"The MEC will be receiving a report from the municipality updating him specifically on the issues of billing.
In the municipality, the department also has a ministerial representative.
Mzila says the department has provided more officials to assist the municipality to ensure the mistakes made in the past is not repeated because it is unfair to people when they receive inaccurate bills.
