Umngeni bridge blocked amid KwaMashu protest

A community protest has broken out in the vicinity of KwaMashu, north of Durban.
Law enforcement teams have been standing off at the corner of Inanda Road and Dumisani Makhaye Drive.
Video footage shared on social media shows the roads blocked off with burning tyres and debris.

Durban metro police spokesperson Boysie Zungu says their officers have been deployed to the scene.
"Umngeni bridge is blocked with tires and stones. We are advising motorists to use Newlands West Drive and M13 to Pinetown to avoid delays.
"Metro police is on the scene, and SAPS is on the scene as well."
The reason for the protest remains unclear.
