Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
uMhlathuze Water says it's proud of the clean audit it obtained for the last financial year.
The utility says it's a testament to its resilience in the face of mounting challenges, over the past year.
The Special Investigating Unit has been probing allegations of corruption and malfeasance at the Richards Bay-based entity. uMhlathuze's Siyabonga Maphumulo says they had to strengthen internal financial and policy controls.
This helped them detect and prevent fraud and corruption and hold officials accountable for their actions. He says the utility's planning on building two dams on the north coast.
