Hundreds arrested in KZN for drunk driving over Easter weekend
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
More than 100 motorists have been nabbed for drunk driving in KZN, over the Easter weekend.

Transport MEC Peggy Nkonyeni says in Scottburgh, one driver's blood-alcohol level was 11 times the legal limit [2.68 mg/l].
Thousands of vehicles were inspected at roadblocks across the province since Thursday evening.
Officials arrested 111 drunk-driving suspects.
324 motorists were caught speeding.
The MEC says one driver was nabbed doing at 170-kilometres an hour - on the N2 near Mtunzini.

"Most of the fatalities happened because people decided to drink and drive and we have been condemning that as a province. Don't exceed the speed limit and don't drink and drive."

More than 111 vehicles were suspended - 48 were impounded.
Nkonyeni says 47 people lost their lives on our roads over the weekend. She briefed the media at the Mariannhill Toll Plaza yesterday, as many holidaymakers made their way out of the province.
"Most of them are due to people who were driving over the speed limit that is regulated on our roads, which is unacceptable."
