Umhlanga man assaulted in armed home invasion

Authorities are on the hunt for a gang of armed robbers after they stormed an Umhlanga home, getting away with a safe containing a firearm and jewellery.
Emergency services say multiple armed suspects allegedly entered the home in Sylvan Grove, north of Durban at around 8pm.
Initial reports from the scene are that the suspects forced entry into the home before assaulting the homeowner.

Marshall Security spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen says the man was then tied up and confined to a bedroom.
The robbers sped off in an awaiting getaway vehicle, taking the safe with them.
Van Reenen says the scene was secured and handed over to police for further investigation.
