Mayor Mzi Zuma says it has become expensive to deliver water.

He says they are looking at installing communal standpipes as an option.

"There is no dignity in delivering water through. So we would want to significantly reduce the water tankering at least in those particular areas through groundwater harvesting through boreholes."

Zuma has told the South African Human Rights Commission's water access inquiry on Thursday that they have asked the national Cooperative Governance Department for help, as the process will start on Monday.
