Municipal spokesperson Brian Zuma has defended its proposed steep increase, saying they have little choice.
"We are all aware the costs for delivering services go up every year and municipalities are not an exemption. This municipality has never had a cost-reflective tariff. it's going to be a heavy burden on consumers it is put at a cost-effective level but having said that communication, engagement and consultations are ongoing.
“The final proposal we will know when it gets present to full council on a date still to be announced.”
