DA sends letter to finance, energy ministers ahead of looming fuel price hike

The DA is asking South Africans to co-sign its letter objecting to fuel taxes amid looming fuel price hikes.
The party says next month's expected price increases, which predictions show will be steep, will be a blow to our economy and drastically increase the cost of living.
Shadow Energy Minister Kevin Mileham says the letter is directed to the ministers of Finance and Energy.
"South Africans simply can't afford the fuel price increase. The DA has made a number of suggestions to lighten the load on consumers, including introducing urgent legislation to immediately deregulate and reduce the fuel price.

“That will allow retailers to compete working through reform or replace a bankrupt and mismanagement Road Accident Fund Levy with a workable system that does not add to the fuel price and introduce a comprehensive rescue plan for South Africa to reduce the cost of living on all fronts.
