Umgeni Water's chief executive resigns

CEO of Umgeni Water, Thamsanqa Hlongwa has quit with immediate effect.
The utility has today confirmed that Hlongwa tendered his resignation on Wednesday.
Spokesperson, Shami Harichunder says at this stage the reasons for his resignation are not known.
Two months ago, Water Minister - Lindiwe Sisulu appointed an interim board.

She had terminated the term of the previous board after it apparently didn't comply with protocols on board appointments.
Harichunder says Hlongwa's resignation won't affect operations.
"The board of Umgeni Water has accepted Mrs Hlongwa's resignation and his resignations will take effect immediately.
"We are sad to see that Mrs Hlongwa leave the organisation. I do want to emphasis that Umgeni Water's commitment to it's customers remains intact."
Umgeni Water's financial manager, Lungi Mkhize will act as CEO.
