Umgeni Water says the delay in repairing the Nagle Dam transformer has compromised the Durban Heights Water Works.
Two transformers blew after being struck by lightning during Wednesday night's storms. The Inanda Dam Pump Station transformer was returned to operation the next day while the nagle transformer is still awaiting repairs by Eskom.
Umgeni Water's Shami Harichunder says the delay in fixing the Nagle Dam means water flow is limited.
"Due to the lightning which struck the transformers Umgeni Water was unable to transfer water from these two dams as quickly as it normally does", he said.
"There is now a delay in the transfer of water as the transformer at the Nagle Dam has not been fixed yet", Harichunder said
"so that creates a situation where water transferred does not get to the waterworks as rapidly as would like", he said.
