Umgeni Water hopes to recoup millions lost through corruption

Umgeni Water is hoping to recoup as much as it can from around R400 million wasted through irregular tenders and corruption.
This after the Special Investigating Unit was tasked by President Cyril Ramaphosa to probe contracts, spending and procurements at the country's second-largest water board.
The utility's Shami Harrichunder says they are working with authorities.

"Umgeni Water is consulting with a team of lawyers to advise the organisation on possible action that may arise from recommendations or the finding of the SIU investigation.
"Umgeni Water is cooperating fully with the SIU in relation to the matter."
