Umgeni Water details plans to improve Durban water supply
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Umgeni Water says an installation project at the Durban Heights and Maphephethi Water Treatment Works will allow more water to become available for Durban residents.

The utility's Shami Harichunder says essential work on the aqueduct that supplies raw water to the plant begins this morning.
It should wrap up on Friday.
"If we don't do the connection it means that Inanda Dam, which is now spilling, the water in Inanda Dam will be lost. It will go straight into the sea," says Harichunder.

"So we don't want to lose that water. We want to make more water available to Durban by doing this connection from Inanda Dam to Aqueduct 1."
