Umgeni warns of water shutdown in Illembe

A 12-hour water shutdown is expected to begin at 6am from Tuesday in the Illembe district.

Umgeni Water's Shami Harichunder says they will shut down the lower Tukela portable water pipeline that supplies water to the area.
"There are at least 17 areas within Illembe, including the Stanger business district and several residential areas will be affected by receiving no water.

"The affected areas are Zinkwazi, Sans Souci, Darnall, Lindelani, Nonoti, Blydesdale, Saunders Reservoir, which supplied the Stanger business district, Glen Hills, Warrenton, Stanger Manor, High Ridge, Shakaville, Town View."
Harichunder says the shutdown is for emergency repairs on the pipe due to a leak.
