Umgeni dismisses Durban water message as fake

mgeni Water has moved to allay fears about Durban's water quality - as a message claims the water is contaminated.
Management at Umgeni Water claiming that water in parts of Durban is contaminated.
"The water that Durban receives is treated by Umgeni Water. The water that Umgeni Water treats is of the highest standards. It also meets international standards."
The utility's Shami Harichunder says the messages doing the rounds on social media have caused panic in the city.
Harichunder says they are trying to establish the origin of the malicious rumour.
"My position is simply this - that I need to give an assurance to consumers in Durban. They must not accept the information contained on social media about the water being unsafe. It is completely untrue. The water is 100% safe to drink. It is treated and supplied by Umgeni Water," he said.
