Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
12 students arrested during unruly protests at UKZN's Westville campus are expected to line up in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court today.

About 30 students protesting against what they call uninhabitable off-campus accommodation were nabbed during demonstrations last week.
They're facing charges of public violence and damage to property.
In a statement released by UKZN over the weekend, management says they're still assessing the amount of damage caused by the unrest last week.

Two security huts were burnt down, furniture damaged and numerous doors broken. Students clashed with campus security and police - prompting a suspension of lectures.
At this stage, it is believed that lectures will commence again today.
Management says they are currently engaging with student leadership to resolve the matters which include res, Wi-Fi, shuttle service times and NSFAS funding.
