UKZN Westville management liaising with student leaders

The University of KwaZulu-Natal says management at its Westville campus is working with student leaders to find amicable solutions to their concerns.
The varsity was shut down again after protest action erupted yesterday. It's since suspended its academic programme.
UKZN management says it has responded to the memorandum that was submitted by the SRC. The university said in a statement yesterday that it has made a commitment to resolving the matters raised by protesting students.
Angry students are unhappy with the condition of some off-campus res buildings, off-campus WiFi, academic exclusion and the bus shuttle service - among other things.

Police say around 400 people gathered in the quad yesterday. One student was arrested on charges of public violence.
The 18-year-old is due to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court today. UKZN says the academic programme on the Westville campus is expected to resume on Friday. The university's other campuses have not been affected.
