UKZN sets up fraud hotline
The University of KwaZulu-Natal says it continues to fully support the Hawks in the investigation into the sale of admission places at its medical school.
A few weeks ago, the crime-busting body swooped on the alleged masterminds of a syndicate, said to have been charging up to R500 000 to those who did not meet the criteria to study at the Nelson Mandela School of Medicine.
Three people were arrested, including a couple who are owners of a popular Durban restaurant.
The trio is out on R40 000 bail each.

UKZN says it's concerned the medical school's reputation has taken a knock.

It's warned that those found to have participated in the syndicate or benefited from its illegal activities will face the full might of the law.
Anyone who has information or tip offs for investigators can call the University Fraud Hotline. The toll free number is 0800 20 32 85. All reports will be treated anonymously and in the strictest of confidence.
