Ugu municipal manager suspended with immediate effect

DD Naidoo was recently served with a notice of intention to suspend him after a forensic report revealed fraud, corruption and irregular and unauthorised expenditure at the district municipality.

The investigation was commission by the Department of Cooperative Governance.
The decision to suspend Naidoo was taken in a special council meeting after he made representations.

Sibusiso Sithole has been appointed as the Acting Municipal Manager.
The DA's Leonard Ngcobo has welcomed the suspension, saying it was long overdue.
"This suspension will revive the hope of our residents in the Ugu district. As the residents may be aware, the municipality has nearly collapsed. Our economy especially the hospitality industry and tourism industry really collapsing," he says.
"We saw many people losing jobs. As we speak now people are suffering, there is no water provision and everything has just collapsed."
