Ugu lands top matric pass rate for second consecutive year

104 985 candidates in KwaZulu Natal have passed the 2020 NSC exams.

135 276 sat for the papers. This is the highest number of Grade 12s who've obtained an NSC certificate provincially.
Education MEC, Kwazi Mashengu's been briefing the media in La Mercy, on how KZN's districts performed in the exams.
He says Ugu District got 81,7%, Umlazi District obtained 80,9%.

The third top performing district is Umkhanyakude District with 80,6 %, followed by Amajuba District 80,5%.
Umgungundlovu District achieved 80,3%, Ilembe District 76,9 %, Zululand District 76,7 % and Pinetown District 75,8 %, Harry Gwala District 75,0 %.
King Cetshwayo District got 74,8 % and Uthukela District 73,5 % lastly, Umzinyathi District 72,6%.
The Class of 2020 in KZN received over 51 000 Bachelor passes and over 35 000 Diplomas. 18 000 received Higher Certificate passes.
