KZN ranked fourth as SA’s 2020 matric’s achieve 76,2 % pass rate

The Class of 2020 has achieved a national pass rate of 76.2%.
It’s down 5.1% from the previous year. KZN has scored 77.6 % – a drop from the Class of 2019’s 81.3%
It puts our province in 4th place. The learners had to study under unprecedented circumstances as the coronavirus pandemic took hold.
Announcing the results a few minutes ago, Minister Angie Motshekga said there was targeted support to make sure matric pupils succeed because of the challenges brought on by the pandemic.

She says over 725 000 full-time and part-time candidates sat for the exams. "Gauteng got 83.8% with a decline of 3.5% from 2019.
"The KZN province was highly impressive. It's a big province,it has the most learners in the country and a tough terrain. They moved up to position 4. KZN got 77.6% a decline of 3.7%. North West which is permanently in the top 4 has declined by 10.6% and only achieved 76.2%," says Motshekga
