Two suspects killed in shootout with police in Inanda

A teenager is among several murder suspects who are in hospital under
police guard after being injured in a shootout in Durban.

Two of their alleged accomplices were killed in the exchange of fire
with police officer in Inanda on Sunday night.
KZN police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala say a task team was following up on information about the suspects and intercepted a car travelling along Amaoti Main Road.
"When police intercepted the vehicle, they were shot at by the suspects. During the shootout, two suspects were fatally wounded. Four suspects, aged between 15 and 38, were injured and are in hospital under police guard."

"Police recovered two pistols with their serial numbers erased and 24 rounds of ammunition. The independent Police Investigative Directorate is investigating."
Gwala says the nabbed suspects will face charges for attempted murder as well unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
