Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has been at the school and has told reporters that the gang entered the school under false pretences.
"One person came here and he advised the security team that he is here to collect his child. When they opened, five other suspects came in - armed. They demanded the principal and where the safe is. When they were pointed to where the safe is - I'm told that its petty cash just around R8000 that they have managed to get their hands on. Fortunately, the school has a very strong security system - alarms were pressed, and the 24-hour security system arrived scene. We are right next to the police station - that's how brave people can be," Lesufi said.
