Two South African police officers have died of COVID-19.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) says one of them was from KwaZulu-Natal and the other from the Eastern Cape.
In a statement, the SAPS says the 55-year-old KZN warrant officer had served in the force for 27 years.
National Police Commissioner Khehla Sithole says the members were brave and exemplary and protected South Africans diligently.
Sithole says nationally, 370 police officers have contracted the coronavirus with the majority of cases in the Western Cape.
He says a member of the National Steering Committee have been sent to that province to support the containment efforts.
