Two men nabbed for allegedly defrauding KZN company of R3m

The Hawks in KwaZulu-Natal says more charges will be added for two men arrested for defrauding their employer of more than R3 million by submitting false invoices.
Adriaan Avenant and Karlien Van Der Vyver were caught allegedly swindling the money from a car service workshop company based in Richards Bay since 2016.
According to the hawks, Avenant was the workshop manager responsible for servicing and repairing company vehicles as well as the equipment.

Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says the pair were released on R20 000 bail each on charges of fraud by the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
"What allegedly happened was that he colluded with the supplier to submit fixture invoice to that the company can pay. The company lost an amount of R3 million as a result of fixture invoice."
