Two drown saving family member on north coast
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Two women have drowned on the north coast after trying to save a member of their family who had got into difficulty in the water.

It's believed the man had been swimming on a beach in Salt Rock yesterday when he got into trouble.
Five members of his family went in after him but were swept out to sea.
Four of them, including the man, managed to get back to shore and were treated.
IPSS Medical Rescue's Paul Herbst says they were called out to help.

He says lifeguards and other rescue teams assisted in the search for the remaining two people.
"When we arrived on scene, the two were still missing in the water. Initially, we started medical attention to the family members on shore. Members from KwaDukuza lifeguards and specialised rescue units started the search for the two missing victims.
"Ten minutes into the search, the two missing victims were found. CPR was done for about 45 minutes to an hour with advanced life support intervention. Unfortunately, we had to declare after 45 minutes," he said.
