Authorities say five police officers have been shot dead at a 'Black Lives Matter' protest.
This after two black men were shot dead by police this week.
Chief of police David Brown says, "at least two snipers from elevated positions as the protest/rally march ended began firing on all officers - ambush style and shot eleven officers. We have confirmed one more since we put out the initial number of ten."
Another suspect, holed up in a car park is exchanging gun fire with police.
Brown has told reporters what the gunman has been telling negotiators that he is going to hurt and kill more of us (law enforcement) and that there are bombs all over the place.
"In this garage and downtown so we are being very careful in our tactics" he said.
