Dallas Police Chief David Brown said, "Last night, it appears that two snipers shot 10 police officers from elevated positions during the protest/rally. Three officers are deceased, two are in surgery and three are in critical condition."

He says an intensive search for suspects is currently underway however no suspects are in custody at this time.

The shootings reportedly occurred during a rally and march that showed solidarity for communities affected by this week's officer-involved shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.

Hundreds of people reportedly gathered at Dallas' Belo Garden Park, marching to the Old Red Courthouse at around 9 p.m before shots were fired.

It is unclear if any civilians were hurt in the shooting.

UPDATE: Five officers have now been confirmed dead in the shooting.
