A manhunt is on for two suspected cash-in-transit robbers whose alleged accomplices were killed during a gun battle with police in the south of Durban.

A group of men robbed a security officer of an undisclosed amount of cash and his firearm in Isipingo on Wednesday.
KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says the suspects were traced to Umlazi.
"The eThekwini District Tracking Team, together with members of the Hawks was investigating a cross pavement cash in transit robbery. Before fleeing from the scene, the suspects fired shots randomly and a woman was shot and injured.

"Swift investigations by the police led the tracking team to a house in Umlazi. The suspects opened fire at the police, sparking a shootout. Then two firearms were found in their possession," said Netshiunda.
"No police officer was injured during the shootout."
