Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The community of Gomora in Pietermaritzburg has been left
shaken after two children drowned in a septic tank.

The six and seven-year-old boys were trying to get their soccer ball out of a water hole on Monday.
Ward 23 councillor Dumisani Phungula says one of the children struggled to get out of the water.
His friend tried to save him but both tragically drowned.
"It was a tragic incident and we are devastated, for the family and community this is the first incident of this kind taking place in the area of Gamora."

Phungula says warning tape was put around the hole, after heavy rainfall over the weekend. He says two septic tank holes have now been closed.
"Unfortunately it was shaking this morning and it was closed as per the instruction I gave them yesterday so there is no hole now.
"There were two holes next to each other but I have requested for them to be closed just to avoid another incident."
