Two arrested in Lamontville unrest
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Two people have been arrested for public violence following protests in Lamontville, south of Durban apparently over electricity.

The police's Thembeka Mbele says a ward councilor's office was set on fire this morning, along with six vehicles belonging to the Social Development and Metro Police departments.
She says the protesters moved to South Coast Road - where they also burnt a truck.

"According to the information that we have, is that the truck was stopped by protesters of Lamontville as they were burning tires along the South Coast road.
"They tried to loot to only find that there was nothing in that cargo and that when the truck was burnt. The horse was completely burnt."
The situation is calm. Mbele says police are patrolling the area - but she's warning motorists to be vigilant when driving in the vicinity.
