The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has welcomed the arrest of two people believed to have been behind the torching of a student residence this week.

The Westville campus's Oval Residence was set alight in the early hours of Monday morning.
Vice-Chancellor, Nana Poku says the arrests should sound a warning to criminals masquerading as students.
UKZN spokesperson, Normah Zondo said: "According to our investigators, the two are currently unregistered students.

"The university also calls anyone with information to come forward by contacting our risk management services. Information can also be sent through our tips of anonymous channels."
KZN police say the suspects aged 25 and 27 were arrested on Thursday - and are facing charges of trespassing, arson and attempted murder.
