An unexpected raid at the Johannesburg Correctional Centre, known as Sun City, has exposed the luxurious lifestyle of inmates.

The operation revealed contraband items such as plasma TVs, PlayStations, wifi routers, and designer perfumes.
The Department of Correctional Services and the police targeted the prison’s medium B section after receiving intelligence on criminal networks.
Officials also found drugs, knives, and alcohol, dismantling illegal electricity connections used for gaming devices and cellphones.
Inmates found with contraband face additional charges and compromised parole chances.
Meanwhile, in Mpumalanga, two officials based in Ermelo Correctional Facility were arrested for attempting to smuggle dagga and a mobile phone with accessories.
The two were caught during a surprise search as they reported for duty on Wednesday morning.
"This incident underscores our commitment to maintaining integrity and security within correctional facilities, as well as our ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities in the correctional system,” said National Commissioner of the Department of Correctional Services, Makgothi Thobakgale.
