Tshwane mayor to introduce mayoral committee
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Newly elected Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Solly Msimanga, is expected to introduce the City’s Mayoral Committee members today.
Msimanga was elected mayor during the inaugural council meeting in the capital city, last week.
He was elected unopposed and the DA also took up the positions of Speaker with Rachel Katlego Mathebe and Chief Whip with Christian Van Der Heever.
No party managed to win an outright majority in the recent local government elections, but with the help of smaller opposition parties, the DA has taken control of the capital city.
According to the mayor's office, the newly appointed Mayoral Committee members will be responsible for bringing about change in Tshwane.
"Msimanga will speak to the roles each MMC will play in his vision for Tshwane, and will announce measures that are being taken to cut costs and executive perks under the new administration," his office said.
These are the MMC's:
Housing - Mandla Nkomo
Agriculture - Randall Williams
Service and Infrastructure - Darryl Moss
Corporate and Shared Services - Cilliers Brink
Community Safety - Derrek Kissundooth
Finance - Mare-Lise Fourie
Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture - Ntsiki Mokhotho
Economic Development - Bruce Lee
Health and Social Development - Sakkie du Plooy
Roads and Transport - Marietha Aucamp
