First responders managed to free a truck driver who was entrapped in the wreckage of an accident on the N3 before the Mariannhill Toll Plaza.

It's understood he lost control of the vehicle and overturned on the Durban-bound lanes on Wednesday morning.
"Immediately, multiple rescue units were dispatched, including Ethekweni Fire Department, SAPS Search and Rescue as well as Redline Response Rescue," says ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson.

"While Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the injured man in the cab, the rescue officials cut the man free.
"Once extricated, the man was loaded into an awaiting ambulance and transported to a nearby hospital for further care that he required. At this stage, the events leading up to the crash are unknown; however, SAPS and RTI were in attendance and will be investigating further."
