Truck drivers suspend planned national shutdown
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South Africa says a planned national shutdown has been temporarily suspended.

Truck drivers across the country were planning to protest on Monday morning over the employment of foreign nationals in the industry.
The forum's Sifundiso Bheja says they've been engaging with key stakeholders to address their grievances for years.

"There are skills that can be easily found in South Africa, and that those who possess citizenship in this country ought to be given the priority to drive. We firmly believe that this move of employing foreign nationals is one of the contribution factors in the unemployment rate."
Bheja says the decision to put the protest on hold was taken after a meeting with key stakeholders on Sunday evening.
He says they've been told that their grievances are being attended too.
