Forecaster Wisani Dlamini says a tropical low-pressure system is currently in the Mozambique Channel, which lies between Mozambique and Madagascar.

“The expectation for this tropical storm is that it’s going be moving southwards or rather the southern parts of Mozambique as early as tomorrow night into Wednesday morning. Normally with these kinds of systems, we're more likely to get disruptive rainfall, which might obviously impact normal day to day operations. Again, there is a possibility of strong winds."

Dlamini says while the eastern parts of South Africa are not expected to be directly affected by the system, Limpopo, the Lowveld of Mpumalanga, and the northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal could experience windy and rainy weather this week.

"For KZN, there might be some showers coming through from Wednesday over the northern coast or northern interior of KZN, although the favourable areas will be along the north coast where there is 60% showers and thundershowers expected from tomorrow night into Wednesday.

"The showers are expected to continue for most of the day into Thursday where the system will be moving off or rather moving away from the coastal areas. As a result, there might be scattered showers along the coast of KZN on Thursday."
