Uveer Jaganath allegedly stabbed his mother, Jessica at their home in Clare Estate in November 2021.
It is understood the two were arguing.
Jaganath was denied bail and his trial was originally scheduled to begin in the Durban Regional Court in July.
His counsel however withdrew from the case.
