Treasury releases funds to repair flood-damaged Coedmore Bridge
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
National Treasury has released the funds needed to repair Yellowwood Park's Coedmore Bridge which was destroyed in the April floods last year.

Ward 64 councillor Gavin Hegter says for 11 months, Durban south communities in Montclair, Woodlands, Woodhaven and Yellowwood Park have had to take detours through congested roads to get onto the M7.
"Not only residents of the area, remember in Yellowwood Park, only two entrances being the bridge across the N2 and across the Umhlatuzana River, that is vital for these residents, has not only caused frustration but costs. It's not further to travel in more traffic."

Hegter says the repairs are expected to cost around R30 million.
National Treasury has been allocating disaster relief funds to infrastructure projects in KZN, as part of flood relief efforts.
"The Coedmore Bridge is, fortunately, one of those projects on the list and is it's going out to tender in the second quarter of the next financial year. Work will start," says Hegter.
