Transport dept. launches probe into fatal Gluckstadt crash

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport has launched an investigation into the tragic crash that killed six people near Vryheid last weekend.

It's understood a small car crashed head-on with a bakkie while travelling on R34 in Gluckstadt on Friday night.
A total of five adults from both cars were declared dead at the scene-the sixth person died in hospital.
Police have opened a case of culpable homicide.

Department spokesperson, Kwanele Ncalane says: "This is a very sad accident for the province, especially because we have had a bit of time where we have not had any major fatal accidents."
"We have already commissioned an investigation into this accident, but beyond that, we are working together with the families as well to see what kind of assistance we can offer as government during this difficult period."
