1 dead, 5 injured in South Coast crash

A head-on collision on the South Coast has claimed 1 life and left 5 others injured.

The crash took place along the R61 last night between Ramsgate and South Broom and involved a car and a bakkie, according to KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service.
Full details are not fully known at this point but the severe impact of the vehicles resulted in 2 occupants being critically hurt and 3 sustaining serious injuries.
According to the medical service attempts to save the life of one of the occupants were not successful as they succumbed to their injuries shortly after arriving in hospital despite intervention by hospital staff.
Relevant authorities have initiated investigations into the incident.
