Train services disrupted as Prasa workers protest begins
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
Industrial action's bringing train services to a halt today as Passenger Railway Agency workers down tools for a march in the country's four major cities.
In Durban, members of FEDUSA and UNTU will gather at King Dinizulu Park before making their way to City Hall this morning - to deliver a memorandum to government representatives.
"The state president needs to declare the passenger rail a state of emergency so that we can bring in the SAPS to patrol. Currently, the circumstances are bad. Trains cannot leave or arrive on time and that effects commuters where they are losing their jobs because of the fact that they are always late," UNTU's Steve Harris said.
