The Passenger Railway Agency says contingency measures are in place ahead of a countrywide strike by some Metrorail workers.

Employees belonging to union, UNTU have been granted permission to down tools on Friday.
They will march in four cities, including Durban.
They want Metrorail's old and broken passenger trains to be fixed or replaced.

Zama Nomganga, who's with PRASA KZN, says they're not sure yet how the industrial action will affect operations on Friday.
"We're not sure how many trains will be on service. As Prasa, we have on our side planned how it's going to affect commuters. As Prasa, we are busy coming up with plans to assist our fellow commuters. Not everyone is an UNTU member at Prasa," Nomganga said.
